I’m still on the road, on a 50 mile walking trip — and it’s been more hiking than hustling.
But even while I’ve been away, the funnel’s been doing its own kind of wandering.
When Ads Take a Break (and Then Run Wild)
I’d paused my ads for a couple of days while traveling. No maintenance, no tweaks, no checks — just letting things rest.
And, for a moment, it looked like magic:
Day before yesterday: $447 in sales with zero ad spend.
→ Pure organic profit.
But as soon as I restarted the ads, Facebook came back swinging.
It blew through the day’s £367 budget ($497) in just a few hours — barely giving the algorithm a chance to re-stabilize.
The result?
Sales: $425
Ad spend: $497
Loss: -$72
That’s the first losing day since starting the challenge.
Was it frustrating? Absolutely.
Was it useful? Even more so.
Because this is the reality of funnel building — when campaigns leave the learning phase and re-enter it, performance can flip upside down before finding its rhythm again.
The Bounce Back
Thankfully, the rebound came quickly. By the next day, sales had already surged back:
Sales (today): $1,095
Ad spend (so far): £224 (~$286)
Profit (projected): comfortably positive
The funnel had shaken off its wobble.
Sometimes the best thing to do after a bad day isn’t to panic — it’s to wait. Let the system reset.
Lessons from the Day
Momentum matters.
Turning ads off for a few days may seem harmless, but it resets campaign learning. When they restart, expect volatility before things re-settle.
Data > emotion.
Losing $72 felt uncomfortable, but in context — one off day in 30+ profitable ones — it’s a blip, not a trend.
The system works (when you let it).
Within 24 hours, the numbers bounced right back above $1K in daily sales. The key is consistency — not chasing every short-term swing.
Next Up: Reviewing the Month
Tomorrow I’ll be heading home, and once I’m back, it’s time to zoom out again:
Review all of September’s data
Identify what worked best across ads, upsells, and automations
Map where to focus for bigger wins in October
The fun part about documenting this journey isn’t just the numbers — it’s seeing how each small lesson builds into a clearer, more predictable system.
