Day 27: Weekend Testing and Finding Winning Ads

Weekends are usually my “light touch” days—time to step back, let the funnel run on its own, and see what the numbers reveal.

But even on quieter days, there are small but important actions that can make a big difference.

Today’s focus? Ads. A few days ago, I launched a fresh batch of creative tests, experimenting with a more engaging, almost poetic style to capture attention in a different way.

Now, it’s time to review the results, spot the winners, and move them into the main campaign.

Yesterday’s Numbers

  • Sales: $768

  • Ad Spend: $445

  • Profit: $323

Not bad for a day where I didn’t touch the funnel at all. That’s the power of a system that keeps working—even when you step back.

And with sales already at $399 by mid-morning today, the daily ad spend is nearly covered. Everything after that is pure profit.

The Ad Experiment

Back on Day 23, I shared how I wanted to test a new ad style.

Instead of the usual direct “buy now” approach, I leaned into creativity—using riffs and lesson content to tell a mini story.

Here’s how I structured the test:

  • Created a separate ad set just for these five ads, so Facebook would allocate proper budget to them.

  • Narrowed targeting to electric guitar fans in a smaller age demographic, ensuring cleaner, faster results.

  • Measured performance based on two key stats:

    • Unique CTR (engagement rate) – Were people connecting with the ad?

    • Click-through rate to the offer page – Did engagement translate into action?

The Results

Out of five creatives—two static images, one AI-generated video, one live-action video, and a carousel—the clear winners were:

  • Live Action Video

  • Carousel Ad

Both delivered the strongest engagement rates and, importantly, maintained a healthy ratio of engagement-to-click-through.

The next step?

Retire the test ad set and move the winners into the main campaign. With some data behind them, these creatives stand a much better chance of generating sales when exposed to a larger audience.

Key Takeaway

Testing doesn’t have to be complicated.

By isolating a handful of ads, letting them run for a few days, and comparing engagement vs. click-through, I now know which creatives deserve a spot in the main campaign.

And all of this only takes 10–15 minutes to implement.

Small steps, but with potentially big returns.
