Day one of the $240K challenge. The numbers look good, the energy is high, and the blueprint is finally laid out. This is where it begins.
A Promising Start
It’s five o’clock in the UK and I’m wrapping up the first official day of this year-long challenge. And by all accounts—it’s a good day. Sales have been flowing, and the funnel is alive and working.
But instead of diving straight into the numbers, I want to set the stage. Because before we can celebrate wins or analyse losses, it’s important to understand the structure—the machine that makes those numbers possible.
“Having the big picture in your mind will really help you understand how every moving part contributes to the whole.”
The Funnel Blueprint
The funnel I’ve built has two main doors:
Organic traffic — through my YouTube channel and guitar blog. Both drive visitors to a free opt-in page, where they receive sample lessons and, eventually, an invitation to the full course.
Paid traffic — through Facebook and Instagram ads, which lead directly to the offer page.
From there, the journey looks like this:
The $27 course (the main offer).
A $17 order bump (a simple add-on).
A $97 upsell (admittedly weak and in need of work).
A downsell option (3 payments of $34).
Retargeting ads — reminding people of the free opt-in if they didn’t buy the first time.
It’s not flashy. It’s not complicated. But it’s consistent—and consistency builds momentum.
The Power of Paid
While the organic side is steady background traffic, the real engine is paid ads. Right now, I’m spending about £315 per day, targeting a worldwide audience of aspiring guitarists.
And today, the ads performed beautifully. My cost per purchase was just £6.30. That translated into a return on ad spend (ROAS) of 3.4. In simple terms: for every £1 spent, £3.45 came back.
That kind of result is rare. It’s not the everyday average, but it’s a reminder of what’s possible when everything aligns.
“Every pound I’m spending is bringing back £3.45. It’s amazing—and a reminder of why this journey excites me.”
Lessons From a Simple Mistake
Not everything was perfect. My retargeting ads, designed to capture those who didn’t buy on the first visit, didn’t run at all today.
Why? Because of a rookie error—I had set the campaign to end in August. September rolled around, and the ads simply stopped.
It’s frustrating, but also grounding. Even with years of experience, small mistakes creep in. The key is spotting them quickly and moving on.
And when the retargeting is running, it shines. Over the past two weeks, those ads have brought in 791 new leads at just £0.23 each. That’s powerful.
Laying the Foundations
Day 1 wasn’t just about the numbers. It was about building a shared understanding of the system—the funnel that underpins everything.
In the days ahead, I’ll break each component down further: the ads, the upsells, the organic side.
We’ll look at the split tests, the tweaks, and the experiments.
Because this journey isn’t about a single good day. It’s about showing up, brick by brick, until something much bigger is built.
Looking Ahead
Tomorrow, I’ll dig deeper into the components of the funnel and start showing how each piece really performs. The wins, the struggles, and the lessons.
For now, I’m closing out Day 1 with optimism, clarity, and momentum. This is just the beginning.
